Get started with machine embroidery - everything you need is right here!
Contents:
- My machine embroidery handbook
- Fat quarter of calico - my recommended fabric for beginners
- Fat quarter of interfacing
- Erasable fabric pen
You will also need:
A sewing machine - most domestic sewing machines are absolutely fine to use!
A freemotion or quilting foot. I recommend you do some research first to see if you can find a foot for your machine. If you can find the foot, the machine will be able to work this technique!
TOP TIP: Google your sewing machine + 'freemotion foot' or 'quilting foot' to find the appropriate foot if your machine doesn't already have one.
Machine embroidery is an incredibly satisfying and rewarding technique. It means your ordinary sewing machine can be transformed into a tool that makes beautiful art at your fingertips. All you need is your imagination!
I'm yet to come across a domestic sewing machine that can't tackle machine embroidery. I use a Bernina 1008, but I've also used quite basic Brother and Singer models too. All you need are the correct settings and the correct foot - and my handbook included in this pack tells you how to sort all of that!
About the handbook:
10 pages packed with all of my knowledge, experience, tips and tricks with machine embroidery.
Always wanted to give it a go? This little book is the perfect place to start.
Covering topics including how to use a standard domestic machine for this technique, to the best materials, tools you'll need and even some practice exercises, you'll be able to go from no to pro drawing with thread.
Each book is A5 in size, printed on 130gsm recycled silk paper, and is colour throughout with lots of images to inspire your journey into machine embroidery.
Think of it as a workshop in a book!
